Chargefox

About Chargefox

We’re Australia’s largest and fastest growing electric vehicle (EV) charging network, we’re Australian owned and operated, and we’re committed to making charging simple, affordable and fast for all Aussies because simpler charging means more EVs on the road, and that’s a very good thing. We’re on a mission to get 100% of road transport to be powered by renewable energy.

We launched in 2017, and since then have managed more than 500,000 charging sessions on over 2,500 plugs across Australia and New Zealand. Across those sessions, we’ve dispensed over 5GWh of electricity, which is enough electricity to power the average household for decades.

Who we’re looking for

We're looking for a full time Operations Manager to work on a 6 month contract to manage the daily operations of the business as well as focus on systemising what we do and improving our processes and functions across the business.

We realise that not everyone's career history looks the same. Perhaps you’ve been a General Manager in the energy-tech space, a COO at a startup, or head of Customer Care at an OEM or tech company.

We are looking for someone who is super pro-active, who enjoys improving processes and functions and systemising things. You will oversee and have primary influence on the smooth running of Chargefox, and will be comfortable balancing the macro and micro perspective.

Our company values are really important to us and we look for people who align with these, so we really hope they resonate with you too:

Sustainability (First for a reason!), Customer Focus, Safety, Transparency, Integrity and Collaboration

About the role

Day to day this role will manage the operations and work closely with the CTO, CEO and Customer Care group to improve customer experience and the efficient and smooth running of the electric vehicle charging station network. Our customers are varied and include consumers who charge their vehicles and organisations who own charging infrastructure.

You will have plenty of experience driving execution through everyone in the organisation, by bringing structure, process and prioritisation development and leadership to the team. You will enjoy working side by side with people to get things done, being skilled in making opportunities happen. In a fast-changing environment you welcome change, take action and align businesses to succeed with strategies spanning multiple years.

You enjoy assessing a problem or opportunity, then fixing it and making sure it's operational and (where it makes sense) scalable. You will have budget responsibility and will be always looking for ways to improve our spending, ensuring it provides excellent value for money.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer service.
  • Account management.
  • Strategic support and execution.
  • Daily business operation.
  • People leadership.
  • Project oversight.
  • Process improvement and optimisation.
  • Financial and business management.

To be considered you will need:

  • Solid experience as an Operations Manager, General Manager, Customer Care Lead or similar within a dynamic business where no two days are the same.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing a budget.
  • To be driven and ambitious team-player who is excited by improving and optimising processes to negate user problems.
  • To be able to relay complex ideas in simple terms and enjoy training others in their subject matter expertise.
  • A strong focus on outcomes, and the ability to consider how short-term activities are in concert with long-term objectives.
  • A creative problem solving approach, considering multiple ways to make things happen.
  • Knows whom to turn to (and when) for advice or input.
  • Experience as a master integrator, with the ability to tie together all company functions.
  • To champion continuous improvement in everything, but doesn’t allow perfection to get in the way of progress.

Why us?

We’re a growing startup, making a difference to climate change by stimulating EV growth and powering them by renewable energy. We’re backed by some great Australian businesses, with investment by the motoring clubs (RACV, NRMA, RACQ, RAC, RAA, RACT) via their wholly owned Australian Motoring Services (AMS). Our small team is proud to work for us, and we hope you will be too.

We are based in Melbourne, and we have adopted a flexible employment arrangement. Because we value collaboration, we anticipate your role will encompass a combination of both work from home and also coming to our offices to spend time with your colleagues on a regular basis.

Chargefox is an equal opportunity employer committed to attracting, retaining and developing our people irrespective of gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and age. Applications are encouraged from all sectors of the community
