  • Fixed term contract to December 2022 for 24 hours per week
  • Subject to six month’s probation

The Lilydale Community House is a complete start up and requires the energy and skill of an experienced and courageous community worker to get it up and running. We are looking for someone with the passion and skills to develop and coordinate a community house that builds on existing assets and reflects local need. 

It is anticipated LCH will offer social connection, lifelong learning, volunteering, health, wellbeing opportunities for people of all ages, and also become a trusted place for information and referral. Lilydale is situated in Melbourne’s outer east, 42kms from Melbourne and the gateway to the Yarra Valley.

The successful candidate will be able to combine qualities such as innovation and organic community work practice with demonstrated strategic, administrative and coordination skills, to establish and lead LCH.

The ability to:

  • Inspire, motivate and lead

  • Identify and develop opportunities including partnership and grant proposals

  • Work unsupervised

  • Communicate effectively in a written, spoken and social media context

  • Research, develop and evaluate ideas

  • Work in an ethical and professional manner

Knowledge and attitude

  • Commitment and passion to facilitating opportunities which make a positive difference to people’s lives Commitment to and experience in the application of a Community Development approach
  • Awareness of the key legislations relevant to the activities of the House
  • An understanding of not for profit organisations

Experience and/ or qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications and minimum five years’ experience in Community Work
