The role

Challenge Community Services is currently looking for a motivated and dynamic part-time Carer Compliance Officer to join our Foster Care team in Tuggerah.

The Carer Compliance role is responsible for ensuring that Challenge remains compliant with the internal and external requirements relating to Foster Carers. As part of this role you will be responsible for conducting regular reviews to ensure that our carers are supported in the development of their skills, maintaining and updating compliance databases and the NSW Carers Register and supporting potential foster carers to understand the journey they are about to embark on and ensure that they meet all requirements to become authorised with Challenge Foster Care.

In addition to conducting carer reviews and ensuring compliance, you will also assist in delivering Shared Lives training, assess potential placement options for children and young people needing a safe home, and arrange and facilitate a range of foster care activities including; information sessions, community events, morning tea and carer engagement events.

To be successful in this position, you have the following attributes:

  • The ability to develop strong relationships and engage with internal and external stakeholders, including carers and potential carers.
  • Ability to assess and analyse information to make recommendations to strengthen a carers ability to provide trauma related care.
  • Produce high quality reports.
  • Have a strong eye for detail.

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications in Community Services or related field and/or relevant experience and knowledge in working in the OOHC sector.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive assessment reports with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast past environment whilst ensuring deadlines are met without sacrificing quality.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in using client management systems and databases.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in using the ACWA Step by Step tool or other assessment tools.
  • Experience in facilitating Shared Lives training or group based training.
  • Experience in using the NSW Carers Register.

Job Benefits

  • Entry rate of $29.09 per hour. Higher pay points may be applicable based on qualifications and or experience. Up to 15,900 tax free pay per fringe benefit year.
