About Chai Walli

Chai Walli is a small and passion driven Australian business founded by Uppma, the granddaughter of an Indian Ayurvedic doctor who specialised in spices. Uppma learnt from him the art and science of balancing spices and teas. What started as a hobby of brining authentic traditional family recipes has grown into a proud small family orientated business. At Chai Walli we stand for integrity, authenticity, diversity and supporting small business. We work with fair trade and organic family owned tea estates in India to source our teas. It’s also important to us to reduce our impact on the environment, we so are working towards creating a sustainable and minimal waste workplace. We’re a small team of 4 amazingly diverse people from all different backgrounds who share a common interest: to work with integrity, joy and respect.

What we’re looking for

We’re so grateful to have grown, but with growth we need to ensure we have the right people in our tribe to help us on our mission. We’re looking for a someone to work in our warehouse on a part-time basis who brings their own unique skills and embraces our values with their own. This role will generally involve:

  • Blending different tea and spice blends we need
  • Packing different products according to how much stock on hand we need to complete orders and to have in the shelves for the few weeks
  • Monitoring and processing the orders for online and wholesale customer orders for the day
  • Organising all orders to get dispatched and picked up by our delivery people
  • Monitoring our warehouse stock on hand and making more stock when products run low
  • Accept deliveries of goods that have arrived and put them away
  • Updating the inventory system to reflect what’s been packed
  • Ensure the warehouse is left in a tidy and orderly manner

It's necessary that you have:

  • Extremely strong attention to detail
  • The ability to work with structure, but prioritise your workflow if there's been a change in plans throughout the day (while still ensuring things get done)
  • Experience working in a product business in processing orders so that you can understand the workflow of production and orders
  • Great communication skills via phone and email as you’ll need to speak to our online customers or wholesale clients from time to time to answer order queries or update their orders
  • A friendly, respectful, honest and can do attitude

It would be extra nice if you have:

  • Experience using an inventory system or inventory software (we use one called Unleashed)
  • Experience in relationship building/sales (we have developed really strong and direct relationships with our wholesale clients and online customers)
  • Innovative and new ideas (we love improving the way we do things so if you have an idea on something, tell us)
  • An understanding of Shopify or Sendle (no worries if you don’t, we have heaps of guides on these)
