About The Role

NEDA is currently seeking a full time (37.5hrs per week) Project Assistant to be based in our office in Canberra. This role is for a period of 11 months beginning immediately. Due to the COVID-19 situation, working from home allowances are strongly encouraged/considered.

We are seeking an experienced Project Assistant to support our Project Manager to deliver a national program aimed at supporting people with disability from migrant and refugee backgrounds to access the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This dynamic role would suit a well organised, strong project focused individual who is efficient, has an eye for detail and enjoys managing multiple priorities, utilising sound judgement and initiative.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have demonstrated project/program assistant experience in the community services/community development, or not-for-profit sector
  • Have demonstrated history of working with multicultural communities and/or people with disability
  • Have evidenced their ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • Be able to work independently in a proactive and confident manner under the direction of the Program Manager

Position Responsibilities

The successful applicant will report to NEDA’s National Community Connector Program (NCCP) Program Manager and will undertake high level project assistance activities, being responsible for:

  • Coordinating and responding to sub-contractor and key stakeholder correspondence
  • Supporting the Program Manager with the development of briefings, document review and drafting, and program planning and evaluation.
  • Drafting, updating, and maintaining program policies and procedures
  • Undertaking special tasks on an ad hoc basis, as required.

About you

Working under the direction of the Program Manager, the role requires a vibrant person possessing solid organisation skills and the ability to be flexible. You need to be comfortable with multiple tasks, focused on quality results and sensitive to stakeholder and political dynamics.

You will bring knowledge of and/or experience in project assistance and/or program implementation and have the capacity to analyse and synthesise information while utilising solid judgement. You are a pragmatic problem-solver, willing to iterate ideas and solutions, balancing details and quality with efficiency.
