The Central Land Council (CLC) is a Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional owners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people across the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres. 

It provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

It is currently seeking a suitably qualified candidate for the following position:

ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND WHS OFFICER

CL 6 (Commencing at $76,093 progressing to $87,409)

This is a fixed-term contract to April 2021.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you'll be responsible for the planning, development and evaluation of training and development programs, and WHS risk management activities.

Key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Recommend and coordinate training and development needs
  • Support the Aboriginal Development Program, including cadets and trainees
  • Coordinate/undertake WHS activities, including incident management, inspections and emergency response processes.
  • Support the WHS committee in matters relating to workplace hazards, inspections, policy reviews and actions from committee meetings and training;
  • Liaising with the WHS Committee;
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance and reporting of strategic and organisational initiatives, HR strategies, policies, projects and practices.

Please note: This role will require some regular remote travel to conduct inspections or coordinate training.
