The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people across the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres. 

The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

We are currently seeking a suitable qualified candidate for the following position:

INDIGENOUS PROTECTED AREA (ipa) DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (HASSTS BLUFF ALT) – LM043 – ALICE SPRINGS

CL 6 (Commencing at $76,854 progressing to $88,283) fixed term contract to 31 December 2021.

This new position will assess the feasibility of establishing an Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) on Hassts Bluff Aboriginal Land Trust (ALT), west of Alice Springs. This position will work with the traditional owners and Aboriginal communities within the region to initiate an on country and community-based planning process. The process will support the development of Indigenous Land Management in the region. The candidate will investigate the feasibility of establishing an IPA over the Hassts Bluff ALT. As a result you will create a plan of management documenting the results of the consultation process. This position will require extensive fieldwork and remote travel. Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
