About the Role

We are seeking a full time Counsellor for a fixed term contract to join our Disrupting Family Violence Program based in our Mount Isa office. This position will provide counselling and co-facilitate support, individual, and group information sessions as well as referrals for individuals impacted by Family and Domestic Violence. The position will work closely with the Family Relationship Centre and other client services programs within Centacare North Queensland. 

Joining a values-driven, supportive and inclusive team, you will:

• Perform outreach work which involves travel across the region to areas such as Ayr, Charters Towers and Ingham
• Assess clients, determine eligibility for service and develop and evaluate therapy plans appropriate to cultural and other target group needs in consultation with clients
• Provide counselling, across the region, utilising a variety of intervention methods and strategies that are responsive to client needs and in line with a community recovery framework.
• Co-facilitate groups, including engagement in evaluative processes such as reflective practice, course review and evaluation
• Provision of information sessions within the community and other agencies

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree in Social Work, Psychology or Behavioural Sciences
• Eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association
• Experience in delivering evidence-based therapeutic counselling interventions to formulate therapy plans
• Experience in planning and delivering courses
• Current drivers’ licence
• A current valid Blue Card
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Yellow Card
