About the Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) will work within the Centacare Drug and Alcohol Service (CDAS) which supports young people aged between 10 – 30 years and their families where alcohol and other drug issues are present. CDAS provides therapeutic interventions including an in-home detoxification service that is supervised by the Registered Nurse position. Operating as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the following:

  • Conducting health assessments
  • Monitoring in home detoxification (where assessed as safe to do so in collaboration with a General Practitioner)
  • Health promotion and education
  • Provision of brief intervention therapeutic counselling
  • Responding to initial enquiries and making relevant referrals as required

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to share our values and possess the relevant experience that will enable you to hit the ground running. You will also need:

  • Registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and a current practising certificate
  • Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check
  • Valid Australian Drivers Licence or equivalent
  • Experience caring for clients who use drugs and alcohol and who have physical health issues associated with their substance use (including clients who are actively experiencing substance use withdrawal symptoms)
