About the Position

The Manager will provide leadership, support, and supervision and coordinate the day to day activities of Centacare Drug and Alcohol Service, Police Drug Diversion Initiative and Outpatient Counselling services.

Centacare Drug and Alcohol Service (CDAS) offers a range of support and recovery opportunities for individuals living with substance use, and their family and friends who may be supporting them. The service includes outreach counselling, home detox and specialist support through lived experience workers. The service also aims to support people who are part of the LGBTIQ community.

PDDI/Outpatient Counselling Services team work with people detected by the police for simple possession drug offences to a health intervention instead of the justice system. This team provide a health-based assessment, delivery of a screening tool and brief intervention sessions (up to two sessions), ongoing treatment (up to eight sessions - where appropriate) and working with people who are on an undertaking.

About You

To be considered for this position you will need to meet the following criteria:

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or equivalent; OR demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the Alcohol and Other Drug Sector
  • Valid Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (previously known as Child-Related Employment Screening Clearance).
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • On-call duties and some work outside of standard hours will be required

Desirable Criteria

  • Post Graduate qualifications in AOD or Mental Health
  • Experience in leading or managing teams in the Human Services sector
  • Experience using Athena Penelope electronic client management system
