The Role:

Centacare Family & Relationship Services is seeking to appoint a full time Practitioner for the Men’s Behaviour Change Program. The role is based at Southport. Remuneration for this position is paid in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, minimum level 5.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Practitioner who will assist in the provision of sixteen week groups for men who perpetrate domestic and family violence, via a case management model. The role includes comprehensive risk assessment, case management and co-facilitation of men’s behaviour change groups to ensure the safety and well-being of clients impacted by domestic and family violence.

  • Participate in consultative and collaborative strategies with other practitioners
  • Be required to be available for some after-hours
  • Have the opportunity to support and work with diverse families and complex needs
  • Work to provide equitable services for clients

Skills and Experience:

  • Well-developed understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, its application within a court setting and demonstrated experience and knowledge in the principles and practices of contemporary crisis counselling/intervention
  • Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework that embraces group work, the ability to manage complex dynamics and its relevance for supporting individuals impacted by family and domestic violence
  • Knowledge of, and experience in the development and delivery of education and training to diverse stakeholders and age groups, through the application of adult learning principles and psychosocial-educational programs
  • Extensive knowledge of Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and the Family Law Act
  • Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences, from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association
  • Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply
  • Agree (if offered employment), that Centacare can conduct an Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check
  • Agree to sign a statutory declaration stating you have no overseas criminal offences
  • Have Australian Work Rights – Australian citizenship/Visa documentary evidence is to be provided at interview (please contact us for detail if needed)
