The Role:

Centacare Family & Relationship Services is seeking to appoint a full time Practitioner to work with the Gold Coast Family and Relationship Services team.

Qualified practitioners with experience in family counselling and group facilitation (i.e. parenting, children’s programs etc.), with a well-developed understanding of the impact of Domestic & Family Violence, Child Safety and Family Law would be highly regarded.

  • Participate in consultative and collaborative strategies with other practitioners

  • Work to provide equitable services for clients

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated applied understanding of Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and the Family Law Act
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in the principles and practices of contemporary theories and a working knowledge of psychotherapeutic counselling techniques, brief solution focused intervention, trauma informed practice, family systems theory, group theories and dynamics as appropriate to the role
  • Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence and its nexus with family law and child safety; and skills and experience in intake, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning
  • Well-developed understanding of Domestic and Family Violence, Child Protection and Family Law issues and the impact on families engaged in these systems
  • Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences, from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association
  • Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply
  • Agree (if offered employment), that Centacare can conduct an Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check
  • Agree to sign a statutory declaration stating you have no overseas criminal offences
  • Have Australian Work Rights – Australian citizenship/Visa documentary evidence is to be provided at interview (please contact us for detail if needed)
