Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner & Child Consultant

The Role:

Centacare Family & Relationship Services is seeking to appoint a full time Practitioner to work at in our Brisbane offices. The position is a dual role facilitating Family Dispute Resolution and Child Consultancy.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Practitioner who will assist in the provision of high quality child consultancy services including child focused and child inclusive family dispute resolution services for families who are experiencing conflict requiring support to reach parenting agreements. The role includes intake, assessment, risk management, psycho-education, case management, family dispute resolution (parenting and property) and child consultation services. The role will offer opportunities to support and work with diverse families with complex needs.

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in FDR including mediating with families who may have complex needs, and come from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Domestic Violence Legislation, Child Safety Legislation and the Family Law Act
  • Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences, from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association
  • Qualifications in family dispute resolution (FDR), and registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner
  • Knowledge, skill and experience in the delivery of contemporary child centred, child focused and child inclusive practices
  • Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply
  • Agree (if offered employment), that Centacare can conduct an Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check
  • Agree to sign a statutory declaration stating you have no overseas criminal offences
  • Have Australian Work Rights – Australian citizenship/Visa documentary evidence is to be provided at interview (please contact us for detail if needed)


This position is full-time working 38 hours per week. The minimum remuneration package is Social Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award Level 5. Commencement on Level 5.1 (salary classification pending qualifications and experience) plus 9.50% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.
