THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE A CHANGEMAKER

The Manager – Co-operative and Tenancy Services role exists to provide visionary leadership to the Co-operative and Tenancy Services Team to drive and deliver responsive and high-quality services to member co-operatives and tenants. You will also oversee the implementation of the strategic and operational functions of the Co-operative and Tenancy Services Team.

As an integral member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will provide leadership in relation to service delivery, innovation and planning, in order to meet organisational goals, improve organisational performance and promote a professional, high-functioning and collaborative culture.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for such things as:

  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships to promote CEHLs role in enabling Cooperatives to be independent, effective and sustainable.
  • Developing and ensuring the implementation of sound tenancy management services for Community Managed Co-operatives and direct tenancies and assisting CEHL to meet its statutory obligations.
  • Overseeing the Co-operative & Tenancy Financial Services functions including bookkeeping and pre-audit preparation.
  • Developing the strategic directions for the Co-operative and Tenancy Services Team and the framework for ensuring the sound management of various systems that support the provision of effective co-operative finance, tenancy and arrears management services.
  • Contributing to and supporting the development of strategic directions for the organisation and the development of innovative and integrated policies and planning processes.
  • Monitoring relevant housing data and legislative and policy approaches relevant to tenancy management and providing timely and predictive advice to CEHL and Cooperatives to anticipate and respond to change.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Specialist knowledge of key legislation and relevant standards (Residential Tenancies Act and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal process, and performance standards required of Registered Housing Associations).
  • An understanding of the CEHL/Co-operative agreements, the co-operative program processes, occupational health and safety legislation, privacy legislation, and Department of Human Services Housing Policy.
  • A general understanding of the goals and operations of community-housing sectors, Accounting Standards, ACNC requirements and audit processes.
  • A sound understanding of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements, Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) requirements, Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission (ACNC) requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of professionals, with a strong understanding of, and ability to implement, effective People & Culture practices.
  • Extensive experience at a senior level in service provision and development.
  • Excellent communication skills; personable and collaborative working style and able to achieve positive outcomes for all stakeholders.
  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in tenancy and property management or other related field.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

This role is a permanent, ongoing position operating in a full-time capacity and will be based in our Richmond Head Office.
