The Centre for Culture, Ethnicity & Health (CEH) is a unique agency offering expertise in cultural diversity and health, cultural competence, social marketing, cross-cultural communication, consumer participation and health literacy to organisations across Australia.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Community Engagement & Projects Officer - Young People to join our unique agency.

This position supports work within specific communities and facilitates initiatives that demonstrate cultural competence, health literate practice and community participation with a focus on young people from high prevalence communities across Victoria. The role will build strong relationships with people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, asylum seekers and young people who use alcohol and drugs.

Key tasks of the role include:

• Delivering community education sessions to young people from identified communities;
• Support community health promotion;
• Build and maintain effective relationships with identified young people;
• Provide appropriate support and services;
• Manage projects and portfolios.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Relevant qualifications in diversity and health promotion, youth work, community development.
• Experience in sexual health, communicable diseases, chronic disease health management;
• Certificate IV in Workplace training and assessment;
• Demonstrated cultural competence in working with diverse ethnicities, religions, age, genders and sexualities.
• Knowledge and skills in delivering community education sessions on sensitive issues.
