The Diocese of Port Pirie is looking for a dedicated Safeguarding Coordinator to play a vital role in promoting the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of all people - children, young people and adults at risk -across our communities. Reporting to the Chair of the Diocesan Safeguarding Council, this position leads the development and implementation of safeguarding practices aligned with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of Safe Environment training across the Diocese
• Strengthen and maintain safeguarding compliance, including Working with Children Checks
• Support and build capability within the Parish Safeguarding network
• Develop, review, and implement safeguarding policies and procedures
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Essential Criteria

• Tertiary qualification in child protection, social work, education or related field, or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years)
• Demonstrated experience facilitating training and education programs
• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and Child Safe Organisation principles
• Current driver’s licence
• Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Working with Children Check
