Role

The Employment Team is part CCQ’s People (Employment and Volunteering) Group. The People Group is responsible for ensuring CCQ has the right people at the right place at the right time to achieve CCQ’s mission. We are responsible for employment matters relating to circa 200 employees and provide work health and safety support to employees, and approximately 800 regular and thousands of event volunteers.

Your role is responsible for supporting CCQ’s mission by ensuring the relationship between CCQ and our people is managed through transparent Human Resources and Workplace Relations frameworks and processes. The role’s focus is on daily service delivery as well as managing employee attraction and retention.

About the role

Your Contribution

  • Manage the service delivery of employee attraction, recruitment and selection and, the management of significant dates, and other key Human Resources functions in a consistent, fit for purpose and timely manner.
  • Support the delivery of strategic priorities and organisational needs.
  • Provide advice and support in employee matters/disputes. This includes recommending actions to mitigate risk.
  • Manage restructures, reasonable adjustments, mediation, investigations, immigration, termination and redundancy.
  • Ensure all employees are appropriately mapped to an industrial instrument (if applicable) and are remunerated appropriately as well as employed under correct terms and conditions.
  • Assist and support Line Managers with employee performance and behavioural issues and investigate as required.
  • Seek ways to improve workforce climate, culture, effectiveness and productivity. This includes improvements with systems such as ConnX.
  • Draft, consult and implement policies, guidelines and guides.

This role is a Permanent, Part-time position (0.8 Full-time Equivalent / 30 hours per week). 

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications (diploma or degree) in a relevant discipline or significant experience in Human Resources, employee relations and Industrial Relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a small team of Human Resources professionals who focus on operational matters.
  • High-level experience and demonstrated capability in generalist HR functions, including attraction, recruitment, retention, remuneration and benefits.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, relationship management, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation including demonstrated experience working with, and understanding and interpreting, Award/Enterprise Agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Fair Work Act and processes.

CCQ has a Leadership Capability Framework which outlines the necessary capabilities of leaders at different leadership levels: Executive (CEO and GMs), Senior Managers, Managers, and Frontline Managers (Team Leaders and Senior Coordinators).
