Our research team is dedicated to understanding how to prevent cancer, how to diagnose cancer earlier, how to help patients achieve the best possible quality of life after a cancer diagnosis, and how to best support cancer patients and their families.

About the role

Cancer Council Queensland is offering a unique and exciting opportunity for a talented early career researcher to join our Health Systems and Behavioural Research team. The successful candidate will to be involved in the development, conduct and dissemination of a research project or projects focusing on cancer prevention, early detection and/or survivorship.

This role involves supporting the ongoing strategic advancement of CCQ research programs under the supervision of the Manager of the Health Systems and Behavioural Research team.

This is a 4-year full-time position.

About you

Essential requirements:

• PhD in a health-related discipline (e.g., public health, psychology, health-sciences) received within last 3 years (applications from high achieving Honours or Masters graduates and those close to PhD completion will also be considered).
• A strong demonstrated understanding of the principles of academic research.
• Experience in the conduct of research into health systems, behavioural science, health promotion and/or a very similar area.
• Confidence in analysing qualitative and quantitative data.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
• Demonstrated experience in project coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is essential.
• Ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a positive, focused and timely manner and the ability to address issues as they arise.
• Highly developed time management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.

Desirable requirements:

• Demonstrated experience publishing research in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
• Strong data analysis skills with demonstrated experience in using statistical software packages including SPSS, R, Stata and/or Mplus is desirable.

Note: Candidates with experience exclusively in biostatistics, epidemiology, or biomedical research will not be suitable for the position.
