About the role

This position will contribute to the delivery of best-practice and innovative marketing and public relations activities and will work to ensure the delivery of CCQ’s marketing and public relations activities in line with promotional and organisational objectives.

  • Implement and execute state-wide public relations activities for CCQ at the direction of Manager, Public Relations and Social Media.
  • Draft and disseminate media releases to local, regional and state-wide media organisations
  • Monitor and report progress of public relations activities, assuring adherence and evaluating performance

This role forms part of the Fundraising, Marketing and Communication team at the Cancer Council Brisbane office and reports to the Manager, Public Relations and Social Media. The team are responsible for strategic internal and external communication and marketing, fundraising, brand management, social media engagement, community awareness campaigns and stakeholder engagement.

This role is permanent full-time (37.5 hours per week).

About you

The Coordinator, Public Relations will be a passionate and innovative professional, with knowledge of the public relations industry and social media. They will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in public relations
  • At least one years’ experience in a public relations coordinator or journalism role
  • Sound understanding of media industry protocols
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including high level proofreading skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively in a team.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, responsive and flexible in an environment with time pressures and multiple priorities
  • Intermediate literacy with MS Office Suite
  • Basic photography experience
  • Understanding of, or commitment to the charitable sector is advantageous.
