About the role

The Fundraising, Marketing and Communication (FMC) Group are responsible for ensuring reliable revenue streams are strategically planned and executed each year. The Campaigns and Community Engagement team delivers National and State Peer to Peer Campaigns, Third Party Beneficiaries, Fundraising Events, Community Fundraising and Community Engagement across Queensland.

As the Coordinator, Community Engagement, you are responsible for retaining and supporting community relationships for Cancer Council Queensland’s (CCQ) within your region to ensure fundraising and community engagement objectives are achieved. You will be working closely with the Community Development Special – Cairns to support local fundraising branches, fundraising groups, event committees and supporters of campaigns such as Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea & Relay for Life.

As the Coordinator, you will be a professional in stakeholder and volunteer management, providing the best experience for community connecting with Cancer Council Queensland. You will be working closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator to ensure our supporters, volunteers and community engagement opportunities are front of mind, knowing you have a great team that support you.

This role is permanent full-time (37.5 hours per week) based in our office in Townsville and will require out of hours travel at times.

About you

The Coordinator Community Engagement is responsible for retaining a diverse range of existing high value relationships in your local community including supporters, volunteer groups and event volunteer management. To be successful in this role you will be required to demonstrate experience across the following:

  • Demonstrated experience leading and liaising with high valued community stakeholders including volunteer groups and event volunteers
  • Demonstrated experience in proactively planning regional strategy for the retention of engagement opportunities and local partnerships to support fundraising and community engagement initiatives
  • Lead, plan and execute logistics plans where required for each volunteer led campaign and events including Relay For Life, Walk for Women’s Cancer, Daffodil Day, Team CCQ beneficiary
  • Undertake fundraising related administration such as printing campaign/event materials, merchandise and event material stock take, dispatching merchandise or other promotional materials.
  • Support community engagement activities in liaison with the Community Development Specialist where required.
  • Evaluate and report on retention and support initiatives undertaken in the region and apply learnings to future campaigns, at key times such as monthly, quarterly and annual reports and post event reports.
  • Identify key suppliers, efficiencies to the broader Community Engagement and Campaigns Team, utilizing preferred suppliers where possible.
  • Lead, recruit, train and coach event interns to assist with retention, support and logistic peak times/commitments
  • Maintain and manage event registrations, volunteer records and fundraising data in the CRM database.
  • Work with volunteers to achieve agreed strategic and operational goals for the region, including meeting fundraising goals.
  • Ensure overall expenditure budgets allocated for retention and support activities are achieved and adhered to
  • Brief, train, and ensure fundraising and CCQ’s policies and procedures are adhered to by volunteers and supporters.
  • Actively contribute to the effectiveness of the Regional Business Unit through participation in meetings and activities to ensure the Regional Business Unit achieves its overall goals.
  • Support all regional activities across CCQ including attending events, promoting the organisation’s mission and programs and support people impacted by cancer from time to time.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office, TEAMS and CRM systems is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in a Fundraising environment is preferred
