Cancer Council Queensland (CCQ) raises funds that are dedicated to improving quality of life for people living with cancer through research, patient care, prevention and early detection. CCQ supports all Queenslanders affected by cancer – from patients to families, caregivers and health professionals. Our range of support services include telephone advice and counselling, support groups, hospital support and information hubs, information resources and delivering education programs.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a community-minded professional, passionate about supportive care. In this role, you will identify the needs of those impacted by cancer and assist with their informational, emotional and practical needs by providing appropriate support and referral to relevant services and programs. This support will be provided to callers, visitors and residents at a CCQ Accommodation facility.

You will be networking with key stakeholders to ensure all Queenslanders impacted by cancer have an awareness of and access to the wide support services, programs and cancer information available to them.

You will also deliver support presentations at volunteer, community and health professional information sessions.

This is a Permanent Part-time 22.5 hours per week position, which is based in our Rockhampton Lodge.

We are looking for the successful candidate to commence this role in early January 2021

About you

To be successful, you will have a passion for delivering supportive care within the community. You will be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or hold membership of a respective professional body. It is essential that you have experience managing multiple priorities effectively and communicating successfully with both virtual and local teams.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills and demonstrated experience in client/patient assessment with the ability to provide immediate support and appropriate referral in relation to client need. Experience in oncology and relevant qualifications would also be highly regarded.
