Divisional Context

As part of the wider Cancer Prevention & Advocacy Division, you will be joining the high achieving team who work to change social environments and individual behaviors, to reduce the risk of cancer and improve the health and wellbeing of people living in NSW.

Based primarily in our Woolloomooloo office, with a balanced approach to WFH, as part of the Skin Cancer Prevention Unit reporting and working closely with the Skin Cancer Prevention Manager, this role will take lead responsibility for overseeing, developing, coordinating and driving stakeholder, campaign and evaluation elements of program delivery of our Skin Cancer Prevention programs.

Role Detail

Leading a small team, the role leads the design, delivery and evaluation of our flagship SunSmart program, the men's 40+ Improve your long game program, and supportive policy and advocacy work for existing programs and new areas of work, including targeting outdoor workers and adolescents and young adults. The role also leads key internal and external stakeholder engagement and strategic planning, implementation and evaluation.

Key responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Explore ways to enhance the efficiency and success of our skin cancer prevention programs
  • Improvements in resource quality and the development of new systems thinking
  • Increase sustainable and scalable program delivery
  • Increase buy-in from key stakeholders and settings

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Strategic planning and program development
  • Program monitoring and reporting
  • Management of databases
  • Program budget management
  • Resource development
  • Grant and funding submissions
  • Program training for staff and volunteers
  • Developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders at a state and national level.

Who are you?

To ensure a seamless transition and the achievement of strategic 2021/22 work plan priorities, the person appointed to this 12-month maternity leave position will need to be experienced in public health/health promotion, people leadership, project management, stakeholder engagement and possess sophisticated communication skills.

Your health promotion background will set you up for success in implementing broad strategies to achieve specific health promotion objectives, particularly in the context of influencing public policy, health systems, or population-based behavioural change.

Along with your prior leadership experience in motivating and leading a team, an ability to move between detail to big picture thinking and your project management and organisational skills will be valued.

You will need a sound understanding and working knowledge of the community in NSW, and exceptional networking and influencing skills.

Your demonstrated high level written communication skills, including ability to write reports and summaries of programs, will be valued when mentoring the team in this space.
