With a unique situation of a high number of maternity leave covers, and internal secondments for career progression, the domino affect has opened up this incredible opportunity to step into a high performing team, achieving great things!

In this 12mth contract, backfilling an internal secondment opportunity, you will be joining the Philanthropy Unit, as part of the wider Marketing & Fundraising Division, a team of approximately 80.

The key purpose is simple - To raise funds for Cancer Council NSW through the demonstration of best practice grant writing and prospecting to meet agreed revenue growth targets and outcomes to support the Philanthropy Unit’s five year growth plan. The how is where you come into it.

Detail

Based primarily in our Woolloomooloo office, with a balanced approach to WFH, you will have responsibility for:

  • Development of compelling and well researched proposals and grant applications tailored to the interest of trust and foundations to significantly grow the value of the Trust and Foundations portfolio.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify and build the case for support which would benefit from engagement with Trust and Foundations.
  • Researching and scoping the Trust and Foundations market to raise the Cancer Council NSW profile and to establish a strong and evolving pipeline of grant leads for ongoing relationships.

Negotiation and contracting of new business working closely with the legal team.

  • With your ability to think and act strategically, we are looking for the innovative flair that will take us to the next level.
  • Work closely with the wider team to build, pitch and convert opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Engagement team, specifically the Relationship Specialist and Engagement Coordinator (Projects and Reporting) to effectively transition all newly acquired grants across for ongoing management.

This role will include researching for new T&F grant opportunities; collaborating with various stakeholders for existing annual grant opportunities; and seeking with diplomacy the most financially viable grant options available. If this excites you, you will also need:

  • A proven track record in successful trust and foundations grant submissions
  • Strong research and grant writing skills
  • An excellent understanding of the key success factors in trust and foundation applications
  • Exceptional written skills and the ability to develop business proposals from concept stage to conversion with high level of attention to detail
  • Strong relationship, influencing, networking and communication skills and proven ability to develop productive, results-focused relationships
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Proven ability to engage high value executive and board members and donor/client style relationships in a strategic and planned manner
  • Sound project and budget management skills
  • High level of competency with excel, word, PowerPoint and basic understanding of database.
