Summarise the role!

Building and maintaining relations in the local community will enable you to fundraise for cancer research and information and support. With COVID changing the way we run fundraising events, this role will value your innovative way of thinking and your strategic approach to raising revenue!

Responsible for Dubbo & Communities and Far West sub-community, this role is a 4 day per week maternity leave contract, till April 2022.

Primarily based in our Orange office, with a balanced approach to WFH, you will work closely with our large team of committed volunteers and local supporters ensuring that CCNSW is able to connect with, and understand, the distinct needs of the communities in which we work.

That knowledge will assist you in ensuring the delivery of CCNSW community fundraising events such:

  • Do It For Cancer (DIFC); This is where people set up their own fundraising event (big or small) and with the support of this role, are assisted through fundraising strategy initiatives; marketing support; right through to moral support to keep them engaged and motivated
  • Using our nationally recognised fundraising events individuals or teams, with the support of this role, are assisted through fundraising strategy initiatives; marketing support; and that moral support to keep them engaged and motivated
  • Relay for Life and 'Stars' within the local communities in the Dubbo & Communities and Far West sub-community, ensuring targets are met and the profile of CCNSW lifted.

Detail

This is so much more than a fundraising role and will allow you the opportunity to work independently to meet targets and raise our brand profile. Expectations are high, but the purpose of the role, and the knowledge of doing something with a purpose, will reward you every day.

You will:

  • Plan, develop and coordinate all aspects of community events, including working across multiple committees
  • Identify and realise opportunities for the community to contribute to our organisation mission through local fundraising initiatives.
  • Partner closely with the wider team to ensure integration of cancer prevention, information and supportive care as part of all fundraising programs and events
  • Raise the profile of CCNSW as the local cancer charity and maintain high levels of brand and service recognition
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with CCNSW staff; volunteers working within the community offices; and local communities
  • Effectively motivate, coach and influence committees and volunteers to assist in the delivery of event objectives

What skills are we looking for?

A collaborative approach in this role is essential - Collaboration with your community, your teammates, our volunteers and the wider CCNSW team. This role will also draw on your expertise in:

  • Exceptional relationship and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Fundraising or event management skills/qualifications with a blend of Marketing
  • Ability to pick up the phone and reach out to supporters as well as provide some technical support/understanding in this new era with online fundraising events
  • An ability to adapt and tailor your approach
  • Project Management e.g. Planning, development and coordination
  • Enjoyment and drive to achieve and exceed financial targets
  • Strategic approach and ability to think innovatively
  • Commercial awareness

This is not your average job, so it's not average hours! Because of the nature of working with the community, flexibility to work some evenings and some weekends will be required, with peak times of year sometimes resulting in evening committee meetings plus attending events on Saturdays.

Frequent travel to the communities you support will be required. You will be covering different geographical areas so you will need your C Class Driver's license. Access to a pool vehicle is available.
