Fundraising for cancer research and information and support is still needed - It's the how that changes. With COVID changing the way we run fundraising events, this role will value your innovative way of thinking and your strategic approach to raising revenue!

Based in Erina, reporting to the Community Lead, you will work closely with our large team of committed volunteers and local supporters ensuring that CCNSW is able to connect with, and understand, the distinct needs of the communities in which we work.

Supporting the Hunter Central Coast community, you will build relationships and provide support to a portfolio of key fundraisers to assist them to build their community fundraising events such as (but not limited to):

  • Do It For Cancer (DIFC) and Pink events; This is where people set up their own fundraising event (big or small) and with the support of this role, are assisted through fundraising strategy initiatives; marketing support; right through to moral support to keep them engaged and motivated
  • Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea (ABMT) - Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is a community event that raises vital funds to make a big difference for those impacted by cancer. The official date is Thursday 27th May 2021, but the community can host anytime that works for them until the end of June.

Not a new role to the organisation, but a new additional role in this space highlights our focus on local community relationships and fundraising. However this is so much more than a fundraising role and will allow you the opportunity to work independently to meet targets and raise our brand profile, while also being part of a collaborative team.

This role will need your innovative way of thinking; your ability to adapt and tailor your approach to raising revenue; underpinned by your passion for the cause of Cancer Council NSW.

Expectations are high, but the purpose of the role, and the knowledge of doing something with a purpose, will reward you every day.

You will:

  • Partner and support new and regular local community fundraisers
  • Identify and realise opportunities for the community to contribute to our organisation mission through local fundraising initiatives
  • Partner closely with the wider team to ensure integration of cancer prevention, information and supportive care as part of all fundraising programs and events

  • Effectively motivate, coach and influence committees and volunteers to assist in the delivery of event objectives
  • Take responsibility for local Community Engagement and Relationship Management
  • Campaign/Event Planning and implementation
  • Volunteer Coordination

What skills are we looking for?

This is a relationship role with a collaborative approach - Collaboration with your community, your teammates, our volunteers and the wider CCNSW team.

This role will also draw on your expertise in:

  • Account Mgmt or Fundraising skills/qualifications with a blend of Marketing

  • Project Management e,g Planning, development and coordination
  • Enjoyment and drive to achieve and exceed financial targets
  • Strategic approach and ability to think innovatively

This is not your average job, so it's not average hours! Because of the nature of working with the community, flexibility to work some evenings and some weekends will be required, with peak times of year sometimes resulting in evening committee meetings plus attending events on weekends.
