Proveda

ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Based in Frenchs Forest, CCNB is a trusted provider of information, advice and guidance delivered through a range of community programs and services. Respected as a leader in the delivery of suicide prevention, recovery and postvention services, the Sydney Northern Primary Health Network has commissioned CCNB to deliver the Way Back Support Service for the Northern Sydney Region. The Way Back Support Service is a model designed and supported by Beyond Blue.

As part of a national effort, delivering suicide prevention and recovery support to people, their families, and communities, we are looking for resilient and experienced people who can balance sometimes confronting and emotional situations with steadiness, compassion and professionalism.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Supported by an intensive training program from Beyond Blue, you will provide high quality, non-clinical care, and practical psychosocial support to individuals in the first three months following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis.

You will work collaboratively with the client and their informal and formal support systems to aide their recovery following a suicide attempt or a suicide crisis.

Success will be measured by the client achieving positive progress through linkage to formal and informal supports, capacity building and mental wellbeing at milestone points in their support plan, and safe discharge of the client from the program.

It is challenging work, and it is rewarding. It is a new service, and you will join an established team of specialists.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • You’ll join an established and successful community-based organisation with a clear purpose and a passion to have a telling impact on people's lives.
  • You’ll work with a committed, supportive and close-knit team who are passionate about helping people get the most out of life. You will broaden your skillset with support from in-house mentors and specialists.
  • You’ll enjoy competitive remuneration and salary packaging along with hands-on professional development opportunities.

YOU WILL HAVE

  • Sound understanding of the personal, family, and social issues associated with suicidal ideation and attempts, including awareness of groups identified to be at increased risk of suicide
  • Demonstrated case management skills and ability to work effectively with clients, family members and service providers to identify solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with individuals and their families/carers who may be experiencing significant distress
  • Experience liaising with external service providers including specialist mental health services, GPs and other community-based services and organisations
  • Good understanding of recovery principles and/or strengths-based principles.
High level of competency using technology to coordinate client care, to collaborate with other providers and report outcomes
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with local mental health and social services sectors
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience working with people with mental health issues
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience working with cultural and community groups known to be at a higher risk of suicide (e.g. males, LBGT+ people, young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people)
  • Current C Class driver’s license
  • Unrestricted right to work in Australia
