The Capital City Local Learning & Employment Network (City LLEN) is a not for profit organisation delivering services to students, early school leavers and schools in partnerships to ensure those most at risk are provided with every opportunity to succeed. Our partnerships range from complex, multi-member arrangements to smaller organisations coming together to deliver a one off event for at risk students. We are seeking someone who understands the challenges and barriers faced by students and early school leavers and is passionate about helping young people maximise their opportunities. Capacity to network, build relationships, identify gaps and problem solve to create local solutions are vital skills for the successful candidate. Capacity to run network meetings and deliver careers advice highly regarded.

The role can be 0.6 to 0.8 EFT per week and staff work flexibly from home, in the office and also spend time at schools either in person or online.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. High level interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written communication
  2. A good general understanding of school-based transition programs, including the VCE, VCAL, alternative education settings (Flexible Learning) and contemporary issues impacting the education sector and at-risk youth
  3. Experience presenting to and working with young people in groups or other audiences and understanding how to adapt your speech and presentation according to the needs of the people in attendance
  4. Ability to work independently and driven to initiate new ideas to achieve the key objectives of the LLEN program
  5. Great networking and relationship building skills with employers, schools, TAFE’s, community organisations
  6. Capacity to bring different organisations/people together to achieve LLEN objectives.

Other

The position is conditional upon a satisfactory National Police Check, Working with Children Check and valid entitlement to work in Australia until the end of December 2021. The LLEN will reimburse the successful candidate for the cost of these checks. The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract to the end of 2021 based on contractual funding arrangements - we do, however, expect our contracts to be renewed for the start of 2022.
