Treasurer - Board of Directors (Voluntary)

Canterbury City Community Centre

Canterbury City Community Centre is a dynamic not-for-profit community organisation based in Lakemba and serving diverse communities in the Canterbury-Bankstown and Inner West local government areas for nearly 50 years.

We are committed to building a strong resilient community which values and includes each member. Our motto is Community Building Community and we work closely with our communities to develop and deliver programs which meet local needs and foster inclusion, harmony and an improved quality of life. We encourage community residents to get involved through membership, volunteering, or participating in our activities.

We seek a Board Member with skills and qualifications in financial management and accounting to undertake the role of Treasurer. Our volunteer Board plays a crucial governance role in the organisation and Directors are appointed for a minimum of one year.

We currently provide a range of services through our Aged Care, Community Engagement and Learning and Development programs. We deliver home-care packages as an Approved Aged Care Provider and Garden Care, Social Inclusion and Wellness Services as well as Personal Care for older people under the Commonwealth Home Support Program. Support for migrants, humanitarian entrants and refugees who have settled in Lakemba and surrounding communities is a key focus of our community engagement work.  We are also a site for formal and informal adult education activities that give residents an opportunity to build their own and community capacity. Our Skills Training and Resource Service (STARS) provides affordable, accessible and appropriate training for volunteers, Board members and staff to support the Community Aged Care and Disability Sectors broadly, including our own Commonwealth Home Support Program.
