Remuneration and benefits
- Classification - Level 5 or 6
- $97,388.20 - $111,092.80 per annum plus super and attractive salary packaging options
- Four weeks of annual leave per annum plus leave loading as well as additional paid leave during the Christmas closure;
- Full-time staff work a 35-hour week and we offer flexible working arrangements;
- Staff are eligible to salary sacrifice a portion of their base salary (up to $18,000);

Key accountabilities
- Deliver legal advice and casework for clients of the Seniors Legal and Support Service, Health Justice Partnerships
- Work collaboratively with social workers and health professionals to assist older persons to enhance their decision-making agency and their safety, security and wellbeing.
- Within a human rights framework, work collaboratively with the SLASS social workers, hospital social workers and health service partners under the direction of the Associate Practice Director of Health Justice Partnerships in one or more locations/expansion settings to provide holistic, client-centred, trauma-informed and culturally appropriate services to older persons to enhance their decision-making agency and their safety, security and wellbeing when they are at risk of or experience elder abuse.
- Work collaboratively to implement, develop and refine the health justice partnership service model in each location.
- Deliver health service partner training and community education, engage in networking, maintain referral pathways and partnerships and contribute to law/systems reform work.
- Provide timely and effective secondary consultations (de-identified case discussions) to health professionals.
- Assist the Associate Practice Director with funding reporting requirements.
Essential requirements
- Bachelor of Laws
- Eligible for admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland
- Current Unrestricted Practicing Certificate
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of these areas of law: guardianship and administration law, contract law, domestic and family violence law, family law, general and elder law (level 6 Senior Lawyer will require demonstrated experience across multiple areas of law).
- Demonstrated experience in human rights law (desirable)
- Obtain a National Police Certificate (criminal history check)
- Obtain a QLD Working with Children check (blue card)
- Current Drivers License
- Evidence that the applicant has current vaccination against, or is not susceptible to hepatitis B, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), whooping cough (varicella) and chicken pox (pertussis). This is an ongoing obligation for working in the hospitals; the applicant’s immunisations and immunisation records must be up to date for the duration of the role.
