ORGANISATION

Our client is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering Australian people who are impacted by dementia.

Established in Australia more than 35 years ago, this inspirational organisation serves as the national peak body for people impacted by this disease and provides information, education and support services to those in need. It advocates for positive change now and supports vital research for the future.

ROLE

Due to maternity leave within the team, our client requires a full-time Trusts and Foundations Specialist to prepare and coordinate applications for funding, supporting all aspects of philanthropic trusts and foundations, and will be responsible for initiating and developing relationships with trustees, and matching needs with funding.

Reporting to the Philanthropy Team Leader, you will assist with maintaining an up to date program, administrating records and developing a pipeline of prospective and existing support for philanthropic giving.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct necessary research, identify potential prospects and ensure proposals are appropriately targeted.
  • Work with service delivery staff to gather timely, accurate and compelling information to inform proposals.
  • Develop and write high-quality submissions for funding to meet set targets and objectives.
  • Work with the philanthropy team to align opportunities to agreed strategic priorities.
  • Accurately track and record past, current and future opportunities via a grants calendar (knowledge of GEM portal is an advantage).
  • Develop acquisition and retention strategies for trusts and foundations <$50,000.
  • Nurture relationships with past, current and potential funders.
  • Provide monthly reports to the Philanthropy Team Leader.
  • Plan work and prioritise in order to achieve targets and administer program effectively and accurately.
  • Provide support to the broader team where required.
  • Set high standards and report against budgets.

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Demonstrated success in grant writing or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising with reference to trusts and foundations.
  • Superior written (editing or publishing) and organisational skills.
  • Strong research skills with excellent time management and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Highly developed administrative capabilities and excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop trust and maintain effective working relationships.
  • A driver’s license is preferred due to the nature of the role but not essential.
