As a member of the international mission agency of the Catholic Church in Australia, you will connect with people from all walks of life. In this hands-on role, you will be working with Catholic Mission’s Programs team to develop and facilitate diverse and meaningful projects which support children, communities and church leaders both in Australia and across Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

Reporting to our overseas-based Programs Manager, this vital role will monitor and support our partners and their projects in Africa, Australia and the Pacific (60%). You, with the support of the programs team, will also provide administrative support to the Programs Department (40%). Your role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Monitoring our partners and projects in the African continent -
    • Building and managing strategic long-term relationships;
    • Designing, managing, supporting, and monitoring our partners implementation of results-based projects;
    • Working closely with and building capacity of our partners;
    • When possible, onsite monitoring projects by visiting (in two-week visits for up to 3 months each year).
  • Administrative support to the Programs Department will be provided primarily in:
    • Communicating regularly with overseas partners via email, zoom, teams and phone calls;
    • Updating and monitoring the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) – Projects Module (in which you will receive training);
    • Providing financial assistance and advice to the Programs Department and partners;
    • Supporting internal and external stakeholders.

As an ideal candidate for this role, you are a team player who is well organised, with an ability to multi-task, work independently, effectively, and efficiently under time pressure with a high degree of accuracy. You are a problem-solver, with basic finance administration skills, have cross-cultural and gender sensitivity and awareness. You have a proven ability to communicate with and relate to those with mixed levels of competency in English. You are adaptable and will respond to challenges quickly and with energy. Your written and verbal English communication skills are excellent, and you work to a high standard. You are degree-qualified, ideally with two or more years of international development experience. Finally, you must be eligible to work in Australia.
