About the role:

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Counsellors to deliver counselling services to individuals and families in the North West region of Tasmania.

The program aims to strengthen family relationships, build parenting capacity, prevent breakdown, ensure the wellbeing and safety of children and to provide education to separated or separating families to work out parenting arrangements that encourage keeping the children’s best interest at the forefront.

As the Counsellor you will:

  • Provide relationship counselling to individuals, couples and families using appropriate theoretical models of intervention.
  • To provide assistance and referral for families going through relationship difficulties or separation.
  • Co-facilitate groups as required, e.g. groups addressing family separation issues, conflict resolution, parenting, and re-partnering
  • Have the ability to engage with the community to promote and facilitate parenting education groups

As a Counsellor you will need:

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience to engage and work with families with complex needs including substance use issues, domestic/family violence and mental health concerns.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to effectively develop and maintain partnerships, networks and client relationships.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline; post graduate qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Hold a current Working with Vulnerable Persons Registration
  • Hold a current drivers licence
