CASPA is a not-for-profit organisation providing a range of specialised care services for children, young people and families with complex mental health and trauma-based presentations, and for people with disabilities. Our programs include Therapeutic Residential Care, Intensive Family Preservation, Therapeutic Foster Care, Restoration and other associated care types. We are a registered NDIS provider and also provide Bail Hostels for Children and Young People aged 12-17 to support diversionary practice from the criminal justice system. We also provide a range of Family and Transition from Care Support and Education support programs. We are a growing and diversifying organisation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a varied and dynamic role as CASPA’s Senior Psychologist will provide clinical support to the children and young people in our care, training to staff and foster carers, plus some one on one counselling with individuals and families. The position involves conducting clinical assessments and/or secondary consultations for children, young people and families who are referred to the Assessment and Intervention team. Our Clinical team participate in research and program development. It is fast paced and closely connected to the care teams working on the frontline.

We are looking for an experienced psychologist who is interested in building upon their experience and contributing to the organisation. We are eager to hear from people with experience engaging, assessing, and working with complex children, young people and carers, utilising knowledge and practice in evidence-based frameworks. We are looking for clinicians with advanced engagement and communication skills, and the capacity to work independently while collaboratively and in close connection to the permanency support program teams. We will look favourably upon demonstrated experience in coordinating complex care teams, working systemically, facilitating meetings, and providing coaching and training.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Form part of the multidisciplinary clinical service supporting children in OOHC and will provide supervision to the psychologists working across all CASPA Offices
  • Lead the trauma informed assessment and outcome processes and panels for children, young people and families in CASPA’s programs and work within a multidisciplinary clinical team collaboratively with caseworkers and external stakeholders
  • Lead Therapeutic Specialist staff in the development and review of the Therapeutic Support Plan, Safety Plans, Case Plans and Treatment Plans for children and young people
  • Conduct assessments and/or secondary consultations for children, young people and families who are referred to the Assessment and Intervention team
  • Be the innovator in creative skillsets in planning, organising, facilitating and evaluating CASPA’s evidence-informed therapeutic programs that are conducive to the specific therapeutic needs of our young people with a strategic vision to implement 100% evidence based practice over the coming years
  • Provide leadership to the overall development of the services provided by CASPA’s clinical department
  • Provide wellbeing support to staff by referral
  • Meet administration, report writing and compliance obligations, adhering to ethical processes and guidelines
  • Contribute to a proactive and positive team culture
  • Compliance with the WHS Act

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Approved primary supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia and experience in supervising psychologists. General registration as a psychologist held for at least three years, and successfully completed full training with a Board-approved provider
  • A minimum of 3 years full time equivalent work experience as a Psychologist
  • A minimum 3 years of experience working with children, young people and families using trauma informed frameworks
  • Skills in clinical service development and evaluation
  • Experienced in Out of Home Care Programs
  • Able to facilitate sessions with children and young people
  • Experienced leading teams in developing trauma informed practices
  • Able to meet administration, report writing and compliance obligations
  • A team player, yet able to work autonomously

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Child Protection Check and Working with Children Check.
