The Program Finance Specialist will work closely with our Programs department and international partners to help ensure project success through effective budgeting, financial analysis and risk management practices.

More about the role

As the Program Finance Specialist, you will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support in annual budgeting, financial modelling of strategic projects and analysis of monthly P&Ls. This will help ensure the effective financial management and mitigation of financial risks for our humanitarian projects.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Support the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting for the department.
  • Reviewing partner budgets, financial acquittals and financial audits in collaboration with program staff.
  • Helping to train internal staff and program partners around budgeting, financial reporting and risk management.
  • Providing support to the Church Agency Network Disaster Operation Coordination Unit (CAN DO CU).

About you

For this role, we are seeking an analytical, interpersonal and coachable individual, with a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 2+ years’ experience as an Assistant Management Accountant, Management Accountant, Project Accountant or similar role.
  • Experience working with international stakeholders with limited financial management knowledge.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge with financial management systems and Microsoft programs.
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to communicate technical financial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A strong desire and motivation to work in the Not-for-Profit sector, utilising your professional skills to make a difference in the world.

Applicants must have full Australian working rights, and be available to work from our Sydney Office at least two days per week.
