About the role

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Youth Workers to support young people in Out of Home Care residential houses across the Greenbank, Brisbane, Redland Bay and Gold Coast regions. Our compassionate and proactive team are looking for a positive, caring and professional Youth Workers to provide care and support to vulnerable young people in our out of home care whose lives have been impacted by trauma.

There are days when you will be challenged and there will be some tough moments but you will know in your heart that you are making a positive difference to a young person’s life.

No two days will be the same however your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring and acting as a role model for young people;
  • Helping them in building positive social skills, utilising effective conflict management and negotiation, and building healthy relationships;
  • Assisting them with their physical and emotional well-being. This includes anything from helping them prepare their meals and clean up after themselves, to just being there for them when times get tough;
  • Administering program records and maintaining strict documentation in accordance with legal requirements and service policy;
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain Blue Card (Working with Children), National Police Certificate and Licensed Care Service (Child Protection);
  • Drivers licence, minimum P2 (Green).

The core hours of work will include night and weekend work. You will also be required to attend staff meetings and compulsory training provided by the organisation.

About you

You are passionate about the welfare of children and achieving the absolute best outcomes for them.

You are a caring, easily approachable and very compassionate person with the ability to engage children and youth quickly and effectively to support them in their growth and development.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

  • A Certificate IV in a relevant child welfare or child wellbeing course;
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge working in residential care; and/or working with young people in a child protection or community service context;
  • Solid experience working with young people who have significant emotional and psychological support needs;
  • Minimum Provisional 2 license (Green P);
  • Possess or has the ability to obtain a National Police Check, Blue Card (working with children) and a Licensed Care Services (LCS).
