Carers Victoria is the peak agency for unpaid carers, we are passionate about leading change and action to improve the lives of carers by representing and supporting them. We connect carers with a range of state-wide services including support services, counselling, advisory and carer education to help carers navigate the different challenges they may face.

We are currently undergoing a restructure to align the organisation to meet new objectives and improve efficiencies. Carers Victoria has taken this action to adapt to the needs of carers and to continue representing and providing support to carers in Victoria. THE ROLE

The Sector Development Officer works closely with the Sector Leadership function to drive the capability and capacity of the community services / social sector.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Responsible for developing capability and capacity across the sector through building strong and trusted relationships.
  • Coordinate carer and community consultations, Carer Advisory Panels and contribute to committee and advisory group representation.
  • Build sector and service provider capacity by identifying opportunities for collaboration with other carer support agencies and groups.
  • Proactively engage with peak agencies and service providers who provide carer services to identify their carer and volunteer workforce challenges and requirements.
  • Promote resources and information for carers, including but not limited to Carers Victoria’s suite of carer supports and services.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualification in relevant discipline such as Education, Marketing, Business Social Science, Public or Health Policy and/or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Proven working experience in education or professional advisory.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics and impacts of carers in the Australian context.
  • Proven ability to critically evaluate evidence-based information and research findings relating to carers and to incorporate this in the development of policies and briefing papers.
  • Proven networking, stakeholder engagement and consultation skills.

YOUR IMPACT

Your expertise will help develop and maintain productive working relationships with State-based carer agencies to enable a multi-disciplinary, cross-sector approach to Carers Victoria’s strategic direction. You will also represent Carers Victoria on relevant working groups, committees and advisory forums, providing advice and guidance on matters relating to carers.
