ABOUT THE ROLE

Advisors / Carer Support Workers, work across all areas of our Carer & Community Services stream providing emotional support, information and advocacy to carers. Delivering specialised carer services in mental health, young carers, older families, aged care and disability.

Key aspects of this role include:

• Providing advice to carers in the community both on the phone and/or in person
• Completing needs assessments and developing support plans
• Organising and evaluating carer respite support
• Supporting and advocating for carers in the community

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Community Development or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in client-based practice
• An understanding of unpaid carers and the varied challenges they face
• Excellent client assessment and support skills, including risk identification
• Demonstrated experience identifying relevant information and resources for carers, including acting as a carers advocate
