THE ROLE

The Carer Support Advisory Manager is responsible for planning and leading the daily operations of the Carer Services Support function. The Carer Support Advisor Manager leads our Practice Leaders, who are responsible for a team of Carer Support Advisors and Counsellors, and the Team leader for Carer Operations Support, providing daily operational, practice leadership and human resources management of the service delivery teams.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Management and supervision of the Carer Support Advisor, and Counselling, and Carer Operations Support functions.
  • Strategic direction, collaboration and guidance to the Practice and Team leaders.
  • Quality governance, risk management, compliance and reporting.
  • Budget development, managing the annual and monthly budgets based on funding and demand forecasts (operational and brokerage).
  • Monitoring and reporting requirements through monitoring of service delivery targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the accurate collection of data about services to ensure funding compliance and contract management.
  • Identifying strategies for implementing relevant organisational strategic and business plan projects, as well as stream and teamwork plans.
  • Evaluation of service impact for continuous quality improvement.

ABOUT YOU

You have a keen understanding of the needs of carers in the community, a commitment to their rights and entitlements and high level of skill in carer advocacy. In addition, you are able to identify gaps and establish operational procedures, provide expert advice to other areas of the organisation and prioritise improvement activity. You have leadership skills and will be excited to represent Carers Victoria at external stakeholder meetings, working groups and consultations.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience in social science, health, community development, education or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience and capacity to provide leadership, management and development of staff including in developing high performance and resilience.
  • Proven ability to foster and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to relate to and work effectively with a diverse range of individuals and communities.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and financial management skills.
