Carers NSW is the peak body in NSW for carers of all ages and circumstances. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers and improving their quality of life through support, referrals, capacity building and training.

As the Carer Gateway Service Provider (CGSP) in Region 4 of NSW (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast) Carers NSW is looking for a Manager, Community Engagement to be based within the region. This is a wonderful opportunity to build and maintain stakeholder relationships and partnerships and lead the Outreach team. The position is a full-time contract role with some travel across the region required.

The Manager, Community Engagement is responsible for community engagement and outreach services to promote the services available for carers as the Carer Gateway Service Provider in the NSW 4 service area - which includes:

  • Develop and implement the Community Engagement Plan for NSW 4
  • Planning and coordinating proactive and strategic engagement with a range of mainstream and specialist stakeholder organisations and networks to engage carers across the region in Carer Gateway services
  • Identify and develop partnerships with organisations that will influence Carers NSW growth
  • Oversee and lead the activities of the Carer Gateway Outreach team
  • Ensure that the operation of programs meets the requirements of funding performance agreements and is in line with the Carer Gateway Operating Manual and service guidelines
  • Manage and oversee the Young Carer Support Workers, Mental Health Liaison and Aboriginal Outreach Workers located across NSW 4, and
  • Maintain and enhance data collection and reporting methods to support monitoring and reporting.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Disability or Aged Care, Social Work, Psychology, Business or other relevant discipline
  • Strong track record of developing and maintaining strategic relationships with a range of local stakeholders, including service providers and community members
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement or community development
  • Demonstrated high level of skills and experience in leadership and management of teams
  • Strong operational problem solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Current NSW drivers licence and the capacity to travel and work across NSW

In addition, understanding of and commitment to carer issues and needs and knowledge of Region 4 will be highly regarded.
