Carers NSW is the peak body in NSW for carers of all ages and circumstances. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers and improving their quality of life through support, referrals, capacity building and training.

As the new Carer Gateway Service Provider (CGSP) in Region 4 of NSW (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast) we are excited to be growing our team and are looking for two Counsellors based in Newcastle and Tamworth or Moree with availability to travel in the region.

These positions are responsible for providing counselling to carers face to face and via video-conference.

Reporting to the Senior Counsellor, you will be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• Qualified counsellor, psychotherapist or social worker for relevant service modes with qualifications recognised within Australia
• Accredited with a relevant Australian professional association, Australian Counselling Association, Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia or Australian Association of Social Workers
• Minimum of 3 years demonstrated counselling experience.
• Demonstrated ability to design, plan, deliver and evaluate group work programs
• Understanding of and commitment to ageing, disability carer issues.
• Knowledge of community services and other programs relevant to carers.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Mandatory Reporting and Privacy requirements
• High level organisational skills, including time management
• Excellent computer and administrative skills, including experience using databases
• High level written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work within a team environment
