CareFlight was founded in 1986 as an aeromedical charity with the mission to save lives, speed recovery and serve the community. Today, we deliver services nationally. Our critical care doctors, paramedics and nurses are specially trained in emergency and trauma, pre-hospital and remote medicine and we use helicopters, jet aircraft, turbo-prop planes and road vehicles to reach and treat patients wherever they are.

We run accredited training for clinical specialists; operate extensive aviation and logistic training for our employees and other organisations; run a range of free education and training programs in regional, rural and remote areas, and partner with emergency service organisations, defence forces and businesses to deliver our expertise.

The role

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a bright and ambitious Communication and Marketing Manager to join our team on a maximum term basis. This position will focus on creating compelling and engaging content for multiple digital and offline channels. You will work with an inhouse graphic designer to produce marketing and sales collateral; and create media releases and draft feature articles and profiles to promote our services.

The role will work independently and will report into the Head of Media, Communications and Marketing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Content creation for various digital and offline comms and marketing channels.
  • Editorial news and feature content for health, aviation and NFP publications and channels.
  • Source and create copy, photo and video content for social media and the CareFlight website.
  • Work with MCM team to develop supporting social media content to increase the reach and engagement of CareFlight’s brand as disrupter in aeromedicine.
  • Update CareFlight website with media releases and mission-related content and create mission and patient stories for newsletters, fundraising appeals and events, and the annual report.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications or public/media relations.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a fast-paced communications and marketing team requiring instant decision making and creating content for multiple channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear communications and marketing materials, newsletters and media releases, and act as media spokesperson for CareFlight as required.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and planning skills with the ability to juggle multiple demands, flexibility with working hours and availability for on-call after hours and weekends.

The following will be highly regarded:

  • Prior management experience working within a communications and marketing team, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience in managing workload autonomously and being part of a high performing team.
