ABOUT US

CareerSeekers is a non-profit social enterprise supporting Australia’s humanitarian entrants into professional careers. We work with both mid-career professionals eager to reignite their career in Australia and university students seeking a pathway to graduate employment.

Since we began operating in 2015, we have worked with over 70 of Australia’s most well known employers to create over 890 paid internship opportunities for program participants.

We are a small, hard-working and close-knit team, committed to growing our impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We currently have a vacancy for a full-time, Senior Advisor in Melbourne, focused on supporting participants in the mid-career stream of the program.

The primary responsibility of the role is to support a caseload of program participants, providing them with employment-related training, coaching and guidance at each stage of our program; supporting our employment partners to provide meaningful experiences for our participants; and maintaining accurate participant records in our database.

As part of a small team, this role undertakes a broad range of tasks including:

  • Processing applications from asylum seekers and refugees to participate in the CareerSeekers program, including undertaking screening by phone;
  • Coordinating attendance of participants at required training sessions;
  • Facilitating workshops with groups of participants on a range of topics – program orientation; interview skills; internship preparation etc
  • Working one on one with participants to prepare them for internships. This includes providing individual training and coaching and sharing your first-hand experience of the Australian workforce;
  • Supporting participants and their managers throughout their internship at our partner organisations;
  • Facilitating "Working with Refugees" briefings at employment partner organisations:
  • Acting as the day-to-day liaison with nominated employment partners, ensuring participants best suited to opportunities are put forward and partners' reporting needs are met.

When COVID-19 restrictions ease, this will be an office-based role, working from our Collins St office in Melbourne’s CBD. This role reports to the Program Director (Mid-career stream).
