About the Role

The data analyst is a newly created role which presents the opportunity to influence, shape and own the implementation of our insights and analytics capabilities. This role is accountable for ensuring the provision of reports and dashboards to the business, that will play a critical role in driving decision making related to fundraising activities and marketing campaigns. A key focus of this role is to understand our data assets and key metrics to assist business managers to improve business processes and fundraising & marketing programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform objective and systematic investigation and analysis to visualise donor data, create and maintain dashboards and reports;
  • Research and analyse donor behavioural and revenue data, to provide business improvement insights;
  • Educate and advise management on the business application of insights from reports and dashboards;
  • Optimise, design and execute continuous process improvements for data generation, management and usage to drive strategic decision making;
  • Deliver timely, high-quality outcomes and deliverables against key work priorities as defined by the Senior Manager - Data. (e.g. Campaign data, A/B testing, Targeting & Segmentation, Ad-hoc reporting, etc.);
  • Support and document the ongoing development, maintenance and synchronisation of our databases, and the transformation of data into information products;
  • Drive the development of and own our data analytics capability;
  • Ensure the integrity of our data with regular cleaning & analysis, recommending and implementing initiatives to increase ongoing accuracy of all master data records and other ad hoc duties as required;
  • Play an active role in a range of other operational and strategic projects including the migration of our data to a new CRM.

Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Mathematics, Computer Science or Economics;
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working with data assets with the purpose of delivering insight (ideally within a service organisation and/or NGO);
  • Ability to translate business requirements into powerful insights and insights into business recommendations;
  • Ability to analyse large data sets and translate into business insights;
  • Previous experience working with complex data sets, and a knowledge of database management best practices and methodologies;
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience of tools and techniques for data manipulation, cleansing, analysis and visualisation including expert level knowledge of MS Excel, SQL, Python and BI tools;
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all stakeholders (including non-technical) and provide ideas to solve problems;
  • You are analytical and inquisitive with continuous improvement mindset and genuine interest and passion to learn and develop new skills;
  • Experience of data governance and building data models (prefered);
  • Experience with data warehouse and ETL processes, integrating systems via APIs and data feeds (prefered).
