The Caraniche Forensic Youth Service is a Victorian, state-wide provider of Youth Offending Programs to the Youth Justice sector. We operate under a “one team” philosophy where there is opportunity for cross learning and support between teams. This role will be based at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct.
This is a highly specialised role, with the opportunity to complete comprehensive forensic risk assessment reports and facilitate criminogenic treatment programs (group and individual) to young people subject to community and custodial based dispositions. There is diversity and opportunity for growth and development, where no two days are the same!
Our psychosocial and criminogenic program suit comprises of over 10 targeted programs to address violence (including family violence), motor vehicle-based offending, alcohol and drug use, sexual offending and antisocial attitudes and behaviours. The programs are research based and have been developed by leaders in the forensic psychology field.
Regular liaison with professionals supporting young people is a key element of the role.
We have worked hard to create a positive, collaborative team culture comprising skilled clinicians committed to providing evidence-based treatment to address offending and promote long term behaviour change.
We are looking for a clinician (Psychologist or Social Worker) who is a team player, is client focused, has a warm empathic and engaging style, and is wanting to provide early intervention and support for young people who have entered the justice system.
Ideally, applicants will have experience with, and/or a strong desire to work with a youth cohort who are culturally and linguistically diverse and present with varied needs including complex trauma, behavioural issues, mental health, substance use, and low cognitive functioning. This is a fast paced and dynamic role so organisational skills - including an ability to prioritise tasks - is essential.
