Your New Role

Reporting to the General Manager in Operations, this is a great opportunity to join our growing organisation in a newly crafted position focused on optimising health outcomes for our customers.

This will be achieved through providing advice and training to support staff working in children and adults with disability in Cara’s Supported Independent Living and Short- Term Accommodation (Respite) services. You will be required to travel to Cara metropolitan and regional service locations.

The Registered Nurse will work to ensure safeguarding, compliance and quality improvement in services and supports for customers with health support needs. The successful applicant will provide staff training in credentialed health procedures; prescribe restrictive practices; minimise risk in accordance with NDIS practice standards; develop organisational policies and procedures; and establish / maintain relevant business partnerships and networks.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Experience working in service environments that require a high degree of problem solving and professional collaboration
  • Demonstrated skills and capability to use IT systems and software to document customer needs, service provision and communicate effectively with other staff members and stakeholders
  • Hold AHPRA Nursing Registration at all times while employed
  • Current DHS Child Related Employment Clearance / Working with Children Check or willing to acquire one
  • Current South Australian Driver's Licence

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a similar role ensuring customers’ individual health needs are met
  • Proven organisation and time management skills and problem- solving ability
  • Proven success in mentoring, training and competency assessments ensuring customer safeguarding, compliance and continuous service improvement
  • Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels demonstrating your excellent interpersonal skills
  • Post graduate qualifications in disability or health related disciplines (desirable)
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Social Justice Issues
  • Knowledge of person centred thinking practice
