Community First Development recently celebrated 20 years as an enduring not-for-profit Organisation committed to working with First Nations communities to advance projects that create lasting impact. Formerly known as Indigenous Community Volunteers, the recent name change reflects the founding approach of the Organisation; that is to place community self-determination at the core of all partnerships and projects. Working within an ecosystem of committed partners, Community First Development partner with communities to make great things happen. Projects that deliver new skills, better health and education, cultural preservation, and business and economic planning outcomes to communities are supported by a strong research and evaluation base. This helps support the rigour and integrity of work ensuring community lead develop and drive their own successes.
In addition to a new three-year Strategic Plan, and an updated name and branding, Community First Development is now seeking to appoint a permanent Communications Manager to the team. Reporting directly to the General Manager – Impact and Strategy, this position will be instrumental in elevating the profile of the Organisation through strategy, creative design and partnership working.
In line with an Organisational approach to advancing true self-determination of our First Nations people, we are seeking a candidate of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage, ideally with experience working in the volunteering and human and community development sectors.
