The Role

The Education and Career Support Program is designed to support young people from the time of cancer diagnosis until they re-connect with education or employment pathways.

The Senior Education and Career Support Consultant (SECS) will work directly with diagnosed young people aged 15-25 years, providing an individualised strengths-based service. In this role you will utilise expertise in education/employment assessment and planning to enable young people to overcome complex barriers, maximising their capacity to connect with and engage in education and career activities.

You will also be responsible for designing and implementing educational resources that can be used by the Education & Career Support team & services staff in supporting young people. The Senior Education & Career Support Consultant will coordinate and triage referrals both internally and externally received from hospital and community based settings, to ensure continuity of care and support.

Skills Required

Along with tertiary qualification in Education, Vocation, Health, Social Science or a relevant field, you're able to demonstrate:

  • Qualifications and experience in working under the IPS (Individual Placement & Support Program) framework
  • Experience in community, health, welfare, vocational and educational services
  • Comprehensive case management analysis and planning skills including needs identification, service planning, service coordination, documentation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Exposure to mentoring and supporting teams/individuals
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and improving Education and Career Support through monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Excellent IT, computer & digital communication skills
  • High level of communication and networking skills

  • Job type: Permanent; Full-Time
  • Hours of work: 5 days / 37.5 hours per week
