The Prevention Division aims to reduce the risk of cancer in the Victorian population through social marketing, advocacy, professional education and providing advice based on the best available evidence. This involves action to affect individual behaviours and the broader physical and legislative environment to support health and wellbeing.

With the aim to achieve equitable outcomes for all Victorians, the Screening, Early Detection and Immunisation (SEDI) program works in partnership with stakeholders to deliver community-based programs, innovative media and communications activities and engages with the primary care and workforce sector to deliver training and education to support participation in cancer screening, early detection (with a particular focus on viral hepatitis-related liver cancer) and HPV immunisation.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Community Engagement Lead to join the Prevention Division. Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager your role is to:

• Identify opportunities to reach priority population groups through innovative and culturally relevant community-based programs.
• Coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of community programs for priority population groups relating to cancer screening, early detection and HPV immunisation.
• Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with relevant community peak bodies, government departments and other stakeholders at local and state levels.
• Prepare and/or contribute to written reports and articles, including reports to funding bodies and key stakeholders; progress reports; evaluation reports and newsletters, and publications.
• Line management responsibilities; providing direction, support and performance monitoring for a small team of staff.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

• A tertiary degree in health promotion, community development or a related field.
• Extensive experience in managing people and projects, implementation and evaluation in community engagement, health promotion or related fields.
• Experience working with priority population groups, such as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples, culturally diverse groups, people with a disability, LGBTIQ or communities affected by social and economic disadvantage.
• Strong project management skills including the ability to lead multiple projects with a focus on delivering outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a highly flexible manner.
