The McCabe Centre for Law & Cancer is a joint initiative of Cancer Council Victoria, the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and Cancer Council Australia. Its mission is to promote the effective use of law for the prevention and control of cancer and other noncommunicable diseases by building knowledge, expertise, capacity and networks at global, regional and domestic levels.

The McCabe Centre’s work consists of research and analysis; making connections and shaping thinking; generating and sharing knowledge; training and capacity building; and developing and fostering networks. The McCabe Centre is a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Law and Noncommunicable Diseases and a WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Knowledge Hub.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Communications and Engagement Manager to join the McCabe Centre for Law & Cancer.

Reporting to the McCabe Centre Director, your role will:

  • Drive the development and delivery of the McCabe Centre’s communications and engagement strategies
  • Manage the promotion of the McCabe Centre and its activities to key stakeholders and audiences, including through communications materials and national and international events
  • Act as the McCabe Centre’s communications specialist, supporting the team to identify and prioritise key audiences to ensure communications activities are targeted, tailored and measured to enhance reach and impact
  • Oversee and manage the McCabe Centre’s web, social media and digital offerings to increase the availability, accessibility and use of the work and impact

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Substantial experience of working in communications and related roles
  • Solid understanding of media
  • Experience in/knowledge of non-profit or international organisations
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High motivation and the ability to work autonomously
