The Cancer Institute NSW is the NSW Government’s cancer control agency, established to lessen the impact of cancer across the state.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will review and analyse information on cancer notifications, translating the information into specific codes in accordance with ICDO and IARC guidelines. You will be entering data into the Cancer Registry Information System to support the maintenance of accurate and dependable data for the purposes of cancer research.

Essential requirements

  • A minimum of six years oncology coding experience working in a Population Cancer Registry or a Clinical Cancer Registry.
  • Experience and or familiarity with the coding of oncology treatment and surgical data.
  • Competency in and an understanding of a large volume database.
  • Extensive understanding of ICDO3 coding and principles.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of medical terminology including gross anatomy, histological and pathological terms.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience and training.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with confidential and sensitive patient information.

All Cancer Institute roles are based at Eveleigh, however, the Ministry of Health will be relocating the Cancer Institute to St Leonards in mid-2020.

The Cancer Institute NSW is unable to offer salary packaging. Salaries will be negotiated commensurate to experience and qualifications of the role.
